NOTICE OF RACE

 1             RULES

 

 

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) with appendix B (rules for windsurfing). Section B4 and B6 are not applicable for this event.

1.2 The Class Rules of the International Kona Class will apply with changes of C.2.2 (as below) and C.4.1 (Youth class). References in the class rules to RRS to be adapted to the wording in RRS 2009-2012.

1.3 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

1.4 Under rule 87, rule C.2.2 of the Kona One class rules is  changed as follows:
If
the offense is repeated within the same race the competitor shall be given a second yellow flag and be disqualified. If repeated in any subsequent races within the same event, the competitor shall be notified by the means of a yellow flag and be disqualified from that race.

2             ADVERTISING

Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

3             ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1 Competitors shall be a member of his/her Member National Authority or one of its           affiliated organisations.

 

3.2 Entry is made by using the form at www.bradsegla.se (Worlds2009, Entry).
Entry list will be presented at www.bradsegla.se (Worlds2009, Participants).
Entry to slalom and distance is made at registration.

3.3 Advanced entry at base fee closes july 13th 2009.
Later entry can be accepted atadditional fee to the race office during registration.

3.4 Buoyancy vest or jacket, with function according to class rules, is mandatory.

3.5 By entry the event the participant grant the organizing authority to publish their name at the web and use pictures or films at own discretion.

4             DISCIPLINE

The 4th International Kona Gold Cup is open to all sailors in the following divisions in  accordance with the Kona Class Rules:


Light weight

Light Medium weight
Medium weight 
Heavy weight
Ladies
Cadets. Youth up to 14 years Sail size optionalup to Sail 5:0 sqm
Slalom (max 60 participants) and possibly distance race as separate disciplines.

 

5             FEES

5.1 Required fees are as follows:

Prior to July 13th

Adults (20 +); 100 Euro, Youth; 70 Euro
(1100 SEK and 750 SEK)

PrioLate entry

Adults; 130 Euro, Youth; 90 Euro

Slalom and distance

 

No extra fee

 

Social events

No extra fee for basics

7             CHARTER BOARDS

Charter equipment is available in a limited number. Participants from countries outside Europe have priority.
Price for charter equipment:    150 Euro age above 20 years
                                               100 Euro age below 20 years

Booking is made in the entry form. Payment made in place to KonaNordic

 

7             SCHEDULE

7.1 Registration is made in the regatta office at Varamobaden surf Centre located at the waterfront.

12 August; Registration and tune-up.

 10.00 – 18.00: Registration

16.00: Tune-up race (practice for sailors and race committee)

13 August; Race day 1.

09.30: Skippers meeting

11:00: First possible start

16:00: Latest start.

19:00: Welcome Party

 

14 August; Race day 2.

10:00: First possible start

16:00: Latest start

19:00: Beach party in the spirit of Kona lifestyle

15 Aug; Slalom races and possibly distance race.

10:00: First possible start

16:00: Latest start

19:00: Dinner with Kona open and internal meetings. AGM

 

16 Aug; Race day 3.

10:00: First possible start

14:30: Latest start

16:00: Price giving

 

7.3          10 races are planned for the Kona Gold Cup.

8             MEASUREMENTS

The Race Committee will subject boats to random Measurement checks. An appointed committee will check the observance of the rules and the safety equipment. In alteration of RRS 63.1 boats not complying with the rules will be penalized without a protest hearing.

9             SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

               The sailing instructions will be available at registration.

10           VENUE

10.1 Then venue is located at Varamobaden, Motala, Sweden. Racing area is in lake Vättern.

11           THE COURSES

The course to be sailed will be windward-leeward with off-set buoy and gate.

Slalom and distance according to separate sailing instructions.

12           PENALTY SYSTEM

12.1         Penalties with 360° turn according to RRS B2.1 applies.

12.3         Decisions of the jury will be final as provided in rule 70.5.

13           SCORING

13.1         The Low Point System of RRS Appendix A shall apply, modified so that if

13.2  (a)   When fewer than 3 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

        (b)   When from 4 to 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

        (c)   When 7 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

14           SUPPORT BOATS

Support boats shall be marked with national flag. Skippers name and telephone number shall be displayed readable at the boat.

15           BERTHING

Boards shall be kept in their assigned places according to directions from the organizing committee.

19           PRIZES

               Prizes will be given for each class and for overall.

20           DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

21           INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.
